The East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans will face off against the Central Square Redhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. East Syracuse-Minoa has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 14.
Thursday just wasn't the day for East Syracuse-Minoa's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oswego on Thursday. Spartans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bucs since on Thursday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Square). Everything went their way against Syracuse on Wednesday as they made off with a 26-1 win. The Redhawks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Caytlin Redeye was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Payton St.Clair was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Maddie Greismeyer was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Central Square always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
East Syracuse-Minoa's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Central Square, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
