Softball Recap: Grand Island Takes a Loss

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Grand Island was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They fell 5-1 to the Orchard Park Quakers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Natalie Kopf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits.

Grand Island's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Grand Island is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Lewiston-Porter at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Orchard Park, they will welcome Williamsville East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
