Softball Recap: Troy Christian Comes Up Short

Troy Christian had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it seven. They came up short against the Covington Buccs, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 1st.

Nora Inman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.

As for Covington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7. 15 seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Covington's side, Whitney Burns was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Burns has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Coblentz, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kylie Palsgrove was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Troy Christian has already played their next matchup, a 12-0 defeat against Newton Local on the 23rd. As for Covington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-2 win against Bethel on the 24th.
