Softball Recap: Westfield Takes a Loss

Westfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Nimitz Cougars, falling 16-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-11 back in March.

Jazmine Leal was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Eloisa Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Westfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Nimitz, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Westfield will square off against rival Aldine at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Nimitz is set to challenge their familiar foe Eisenhower at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
