Basketball Recap: North Myrtle Beach Takes a Loss

North Myrtle Beach lost against Myrtle Beach back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs fell 53-44 to the Myrtle Beach Seahawks. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why North Myrtle Beach lost, don't look at CJ Oxendine. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-12 en route to 19 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Chris Chapman, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Myrtle Beach had a senior duo take command as John Simmons dropped a double-double with 11 points and 17 boards and James Watson earned 13 points and six assists. Myrtle Beach is 8-1 when Simmons posts ten or more rebounds, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Campbell, who had ten points.

North Myrtle Beach now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Myrtle Beach, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: North Myrtle Beach beat Myrtle Beach by a score of 61-49 on Thursday.
