Softball Game Preview: Dobie Longhorns vs. Dawson Eagles

The Dobie Longhorns will take on the Dawson Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Dobie took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Manvel as Dobie made off with a 14-1 win. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Amaya Corona was a standout: she scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Persephone Soria, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Dobie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Dawson came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Mavericks 10-8.

Dobie's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dawson, the win got them back to even at 8-8-1.

Dobie took their victory against Dawson when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 19-3. Will Dobie repeat their success, or does Dawson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
