Baseball Game Preview: Rancho Cotate Cougars vs. Carmel Padres

The Rancho Cotate Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Carmel Padres at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rancho Cotate is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Kingsburg.

Camden Henington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Luke Morie was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Cooper Reichert also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Carmel waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Pirates. The result was nothing new for the Padres, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Matt Maxon, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Bo Lewis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

Rancho Cotate is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Carmel, their record is now 21-10.
