West Catholic came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Wayland Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 on Monday.

Cru Visconti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit.

At the plate, Ethan Gottleber was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Matthew Gutierrez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

West Catholic pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.14 runs across that stretch. As for Wayland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.

West Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Wayland: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
