Football Recap: Easton Eilertson and Gavin Ortegon Secure Win for West Field

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Field walked away with it. They came out on top against the Viewmont Vikings by a score of 41-34 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Longhorns considering their 12-point performance the matchup before.

A big part of West Field's win came down to the chemistry between Easton Eilertson and his top target Gavin Ortegon. Eilertson threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns while completing 74.3% of his passes while Ortegon picked up 111 receiving yards and four scores. West Field is 5-1 when Ortegon posts 100 or more receiving yards, but 2-3 otherwise. A healthy portion of Eilertson's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) also went to Kolt Abbott.

West Field's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Viewmont, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, West Field will face off against Box Elder at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Viewmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
