Softball Recap: Kalamazoo Christian Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Kalamazoo Christian waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Gobles Tigers 15-1. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Carien Ybema made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Cecile Ybema was incredible, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Alexis Earley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Kalamazoo Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gobles only posted a batting average of .176.

Kalamazoo Christian pushed their record up to 18-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Gobles, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-5.

Coming up, Kalamazoo Christian will venture away from home to challenge Otsego at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gobles, they will welcome South Haven at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
