Baseball Recap: Nichols Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Nichols extended their postseason success on Saturday against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute. They came out on top against the Marauders by a score of 6-3. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Marauders on Saturday, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

Nichols got a great performance from Max Zlotnick as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Zlotnick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brady Venditti and Derek McIntyre did most of the damage at the plate: Venditti went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while McIntyre went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave McIntyre a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Ruffolo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Nichols has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, they now have a losing record of 12-13-1.

As of now, neither Nichols nor the Marauders have any future games scheduled.
