Basketball Game Preview: Logan/Palco vs. Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks

Logan/Palco hasn't had much luck against Wheatland-Grinnell recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Logan/Palco will be taking part in a tournament against the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Logan/Palco was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 33-27 to Golden Plains. Logan/Palco has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Wheatland-Grinnell against Ness City on Friday as the squad secured a 67-34 victory. The Thunderhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 30 points or more this season.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win came from a few key players Logan/Palco will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Natalie Bixenman, who went 11 of 15 on her way to 26 points along with eight assists and five boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Aliviah Ball was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Wheatland-Grinnell was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Logan/Palco, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Logan/Palco was dealt a bruising 57-22 loss at the hands of Wheatland-Grinnell in their previous matchup back in January. Can Logan/Palco avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
