Basketball Recap: Hillgrove Now 13-2 over Last 15 Games

Hillgrove won the last time they faced McEachern and things went their way on Friday too. The Hillgrove Hawks snuck past the McEachern Indians with a 47-41 victory. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Indians are ranked 191st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Hillgrove to victory were Amaya Harris and Kierra Jackson. Harris went 6 of 15 en route to 20 points, while Jackson posted 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those 20 points gave Harris a new career-high.

McEachern's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Summer Edwards, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 14 points and eight boards, and Lauren Wilson, who put up ten points. Wilson also put up an assist, which washer first of the season.

Hillgrove is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for McEachern, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-11 record.

Hillgrove will venture away from home to face off against Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillgrove is facing Harrison at the right time seeing as Harrison is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for McEachern, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-36 loss against Milton on the 25th.
