Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for IDEA Edinburg College Prep

IDEA Edinburg College Prep entered their tilt with Monte Alto on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They had just enough and edged the Monte Alto Blue Devil out 53-51. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-54 back in January.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emmanuel Zuniga led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. That's the most points Zuniga has posted since back in November of 2024. MIchael Meza was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 15 rebounds.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Monte Alto still got an impressive performance from Ricky Serrano, who earned 25 points and three steals. Serrano's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Julio Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep's win bumped their record up to 20-11. As for Monte Alto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-16.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-61 loss against Vanguard Academy Beethoven on the 10th. As for Monte Alto, they have also already played their next game, a 76-57 defeat against Vanguard Academy Rembrandt on the 11th.
