Basketball Preview: Mississinewa Indians vs. Delta Eagles

Mississinewa is 2-7 against the Eagles since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Mississinewa Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Delta Eagles at 12:30 p.m. Mississinewa will be strutting in after a win while the Eagles will be coming in after a defeat.

Mississinewa entered their tilt with the Tigers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Mississinewa strolled past the Tigers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 54-40. Given Mississinewa's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Tigers are ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Preston McCann, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deakon Dilts, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

Delta has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greenfield-Central. Delta has struggled against the Cougars recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Mississinewa pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Delta, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-6.

Mississinewa suffered a grim 57-34 defeat to the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Mississinewa have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
