Basketball Recap: Elkhorn South's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bellevue East, Elkhorn South was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Omaha North Vikings. The Storm's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Elkhorn South got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Liv Schieber out in front who posted nine points and six boards. Mollie Probasco was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Omaha North's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaeya Randle, who had 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. With that strong performance, Randle is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayanna Hill, who put up 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Elkhorn South moved to 1-7 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak. As for Omaha North, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhorn South will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Omaha Northwest at 7:15 p.m. on January 9th. As for Omaha North, they will welcome Bellevue West at 5:30 p.m. on January 7th. Bellevue West will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Omaha North surely won't give up without a fight.
