Basketball Recap: Aaliyah Baker Key Part of a Team Effort in Falcons Win

Fairfield hadn't done well against Cunningham recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Fairfield Falcons came out on top against the Cunningham Wildcats by a score of 45-34. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 39-36 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Fairfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaliyah Baker out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Kenley Fowler was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Fairfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

With the win, Fairfield broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9. As for Cunningham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Fairfield and Cunningham could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Fairfield will face off against Attica at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 207 places (293 vs. 86). Meanwhile, Cunningham (ranked 325th) will meet Norwich (ranked 153rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
