Volleyball Recap: Canon City Extends Winning Streak to Five

Canon City extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Raegen John. The Tigers put the hurt on the Coronado Cougars with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday with plenty of help from John, who had 19 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-17, 25-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canon City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellee Carr, who had eight digs and four aces. Zafa Koehn also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Canon City was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in five consecutive matches.

Canon City's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Canon City will face off against Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coronado, they will challenge Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
