Baseball Game Preview: Fall River Pirates vs. Poynette Pumas

The Fall River Pirates will square off against the Poynette Pumas at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fall River lost 14-1 to Markesan on Thursday. The Pirates have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Poynette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Lake Mills, falling 10-0.

Poynette saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Webster, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Fall River's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Poynette, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Fall River's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Pirates have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Poynette, though, as they've been averaging only 0.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fall River continue to outrun the ball?
