Evangelical Christian took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Tipton-Rosemark Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rebels 4-3. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Evangelical Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Gates, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Trenton Trumbo also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Evangelical Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evangelical Christian will head out to face off against Northpoint Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, they will challenge Memphis Home Education Association at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
