Softball Game Preview: Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs vs. Heyworth Hornets

The Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Heyworth Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mahomet-Seymour is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Mahomet-Seymour is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Bloomington Central Catholic just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 8-4 to the Saints.

Meanwhile, Heyworth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brimfield.

Gabby Dow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Heyworth saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Mahomet-Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Heyworth, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.

Mahomet-Seymour came up short against Heyworth in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, falling 8-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
