Recap: Denver Jewish Day Tigers vs. Lyons Lions

The Denver Jewish Day Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Lyons 81-64. Given Denver Jewish Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Lyons is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Denver Jewish Day to victory were Solly Bielsky and Keenan Winnerman. Bielsky scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Winnerman scored 36 points along with five blocks and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Winnerman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lev Friedman, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.

Denver Jewish Day's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Lyons, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Denver Jewish Day won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Denver Waldorf at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Denver Waldorf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Thursday. Lyons won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Union Colony Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Union Colony Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
