Recap: Cascade Champions vs. Summertown Eagles

The Cascade Champions struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Summertown Eagles had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cascade had to suffer through a rough 74-45 loss at the hands of Summertown. While losing is never fun, Cascade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Summertown is ranked 19th).
Despite the loss, Cascade saw an underclassman step up: Kaegan Young scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Sophie Ray, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Karlie Campbell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Summertown, scoring 13 points along with five assists and four steals. The match was Campbell's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Brazier, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Cascade has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Summertown, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cascade will take on Cannon County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cannon County is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games. Summertown won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fayetteville at 2:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
