Hicks had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Elizabeth Bulldogs as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Maliah Gordy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Saige Hagan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Hicks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elizabeth only posted an OBP of .286.
Hicks pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Elizabeth, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Coming up, Hicks will take on Fairview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elizabeth, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Oberlin at 4:00 p.m.
