Basketball Recap: Tornillo Comes Up Short

Tornillo extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 58-32 to the Mountain View Lobos. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lobos from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

As for Mountain View, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games.

Mountain View had a senior duo take command as Zeke Torres shot 47% from the field en route to 21 points and eight steals and Devin Gonzalez dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Torres has scored all season. Raul Rangel was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Tornillo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-46 loss against Immanuel Christian on the 6th. As for Mountain View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 42-30 win against Patterson Institute on the 5th.
