Basketball Recap: Brayden Douglas and Gunnar Shepherd Secure Win for Talawanda

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Talawanda). They came out on top against the Eaton Eagles by a score of 50-42 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Brave, who suffered a 59-50 loss the last time these two teams met.

Talawanda was led to victory by Gunnar Shepherd and Brayden Douglas. Shepherd posted 23 points and six rebounds, while Douglas dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. Douglas has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 57% every time he's hit the court this season. Colton Wagers also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Talawanda was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Talawanda's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Eaton, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Talawanda will venture away from home to face off against Ross at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Eaton, they will head out to square off against Oakwood at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season.
