Recap: Elmore County Panthers vs. Holtville Bulldogs

The Elmore County Panthers won the last time they faced the Holtville Bulldogs, and things went their way on Friday too. Elmore County came out on top against Holtville by a score of 28-21. Elmore County's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elmore County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cade Everson, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Everson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Cj Wilkes also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Holtville to a paltry 167 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Elmore County's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out seven times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Connor Pike and Hunter Denham who racked up four sacks between them.

Although Holtville took the loss, they still got scores from Elijah Headley, Cedrick Croskey, and Daishaun Zeigler.

Elmore County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Holtville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

Elmore County will take on Jemison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jemison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Elmore County is ranked 105th). As for Holtville, they will head out on the road to face off against Tallassee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tallassee is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
