Izeal Mallory II leads Northern Nash to victory over Rocky Mount

The Northern Nash Knights had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against Rocky Mount by a score of 78-68. Given Northern Nash's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Rocky Mount is ranked 467th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Izeal Mallory II continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was CJ Rosser, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Rocky Mount lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emanauel Battle, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyquae Pittman, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.

Northern Nash has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Rocky Mount, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 3-9.

Northern Nash will be playing in front of their home fans against D.H. Conley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mount won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Roanoke Rapids at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Roanoke Rapids will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
