Rio Rancho is 8-2 against Volcano Vista since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rams will face off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Rio Rancho will be strutting in after a victory while Volcano Vista will be coming in after a defeat.

Rio Rancho is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Farmington, who was ranked 19th at the time (Rio Rancho was ranked 14th). The Rams were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Scorpions on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Volcano Vista's offense. They came up short against Piedra Vista on Friday, falling 15-0. The Hawks' loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Rio Rancho is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Volcano Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Rio Rancho was able to grind out a solid victory over Volcano Vista when the teams last played on April 3rd, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
