Basketball Recap: Hammond Central Wolves vs. Portage Indians
Hammond Central played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 74-38 loss at the hands of the Portage Indians. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Defeat or not, Hammond Central got some senior leadership from Elijah Lewis and Semaj Davis. Lewis went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points, while Davis posted 11 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Lewis. Romero Murray also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.
Karter Kobe went supernova For Portage., shooting 85% from the field en route to 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those six boards gave Kobe a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dennis Moran III, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Hammond Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Portage, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond Central will take on Bloom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portage, they will challenge Hammond Bishop Noll at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
