Softball Recap: Blackfoot Takes a Loss

Blackfoot fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Pocatello on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 7-6. The Broncos haven't had much luck with the Thunder recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Brianna Reynolds was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed 7.2 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Emma McGuire made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Blackfoot's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Pocatello, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Blackfoot will face off against Skyline at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pocatello, they will take on Hillcrest at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
