Baseball Recap: Columbus Find Success

Columbus was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Jordan Red Jackets 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Red Jackets: they've now won six in a row.

RJ Griffin looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caden Bryans, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Columbus: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 10-13 otherwise.

Columbus' record is now 13-14. As for Jordan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Columbus will host Shaw at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jordan, they are taking a road trip to take on Manchester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.4 runs per game on average), something the Red Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
