Softball Recap: Brackenridge Comes Up Short

Brackenridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-4 to the Jefferson Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 19-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Mia Vargas and Larissa Garcia did some serious damage despite the final result: Vargas went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Garcia scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Garcia has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Barajas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Brackenridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Brackenridge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Jefferson, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Brackenridge will challenge rival Highlands at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jefferson is set to square off against their familiar foe Edison at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
