Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Triumphs

Heritage Academy took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Magnolia Heights, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Heritage Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Magnolia Heights on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since February 29, 2024.

Cooper Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Charlie Fowler was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Heritage Academy is undefeated when Fowler posts three or more hits, but 3-9-1 otherwise.

Heritage Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Magnolia Heights' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 17-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Magnolia Heights beat Heritage Academy by a score of 13-3 on Thursday.
