Preview: Beechcroft Cougars vs. Dunbar Wolverines
The Beechcroft Cougars will be playing at home against the Dunbar Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Beechcroft came up short against South and fell 82-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Saturday (62), Beechcroft still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Santonio Dortch, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. He scored a full 39.1% of Beechcroft's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Khalil Samuel, who scored 16 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Dunbar entered their tilt with Stivers School for the Arts with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Dunbar enjoyed a cozy 64-45 win over Stivers School for the Arts on Tuesday. Given Dunbar's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Stivers School for the Arts is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
With Beechcroft's win and South's defeat, both teams now sport identical 1-1 records.
