Softball Recap: Southwest Legacy Takes a Loss

Southwest Legacy lost against McCollum back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Southwest Legacy Titans took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McCollum Cowboys. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Amy Saul and Nevaeh Garcia did some serious damage despite the final result: Saul scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Garcia went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Saul a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Novalee Gloria, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Southwest Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 14.2.

Southwest Legacy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for McCollum, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Southwest Legacy and McCollum will both be playing Southwest the next time they take the field. Southwest Legacy will host Southwest at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while McCollum will host them at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th.
