Softball Recap: Southwest Onslow Has No Trouble Against Wallace-Rose Hill

Southwest Onslow hadn't done well against Wallace-Rose Hill recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Southwest Onslow Stallions were the clear victor by an 11-5 margin over the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs. For the Stallions, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Whitney Grissett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilian Paradysz, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Grace Randolph also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Southwest Onslow and bumps their season record up to 2-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Southwest Onslow will venture away from home to square off against Lejeune at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lejeune has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something Southwest Onslow will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they will face off against North Lenoir at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th.
