Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is the Covenant's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

The Covenant had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Carlisle Chiefs 11-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Phillip Venton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, The Covenant let Jonathan Albert and Will Park run wild. Albert got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Park went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Park a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Kessick, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

The Covenant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlisle only posted an OBP of .167.

The Covenant has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Carlisle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

As of now, neither The Covenant nor the Chiefs have any future games scheduled.
