A Season-Best Performance from Fischer Franck Leads Calhoun over Zapata
Calhoun was led to victory by Fischer Franck, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Franck rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 110 or more in the last seven games he's played.
Calhoun pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Franck and Calhoun will face off against Davenport at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Alex Estrada Crosses Big Stat Threshold
On Thursday, Bay City got the W thanks in part to Alex Estrada playing the best football he has all season. Estrada threw for 323 yards and seven touchdowns on perfect 18-for-18 passing, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 3.2 passing touchdowns per game. He has been hot recently, having posted four or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
The win was the ninth in a row for Bay City, bringing their record for this year to 10-1. Estrada and Bay City will square off against Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Sean Garza Dazzles in La Vernia Victory
Sean Garza's big game helped extend La Vernia's winning streak to four on Friday. Tuloso-Midway had no answer to Garza as he rushed for 199 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Garza is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
La Vernia pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Garza will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against LBJ Austin on Thursday.

Darrik Salinas Delivers Best Effort of Season
On Friday, Calhoun got the W thanks in part to Darrik Salinas playing the best football he has all season. Salinas rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in October of 2023. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 55 yards.
Unfortunately for Zapata, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Salinas. Salinas picked up 71 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 47 yards the last time he and the Hawks duked it out back in November of 2023.

Bay City Wins Ninth-Straight Thanks to Xylan Williams
Xylan Williams was instrumental in extending Bay City's winning streak to nine on Thursday. Hidalgo had no answer to Williams as he picked up 88 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more receiving touchdowns the last three times he's played.
On the year, Williams has caught 17 touchdowns while averaging 87.7 receiving yards per game.
