Softball Preview: Cypress Lake Panthers vs. Bonita Springs Bullsharks

The Cypress Lake Panthers will take on the Bonita Springs Bullsharks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Cypress Lake turned things around against Dunbar on Friday. They blew past the Tigers 21-6. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Audrina Westland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Maisy Vogel was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makala Powell, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Cypress Lake hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunbar struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Bonita Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Barron Collier, falling 16-1.

Bonita Springs saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Balentine, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Cypress Lake's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Bonita Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
