Baseball Recap: Wimberley Beats Thorndale for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Wimberley entered their tilt with Thorndale on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-0 on Friday.

Jaden Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Wimberley got a great performance from Jayden Gamez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Gamez a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, Bryson Anderson was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Yeatter, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances.

Wimberley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Wimberley's win bumped their record up to 8-3-1. As for Thorndale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wimberley will take on Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wimberley 4.1, Canyon Lake 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Thorndale, they will square off against Bremond at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thorndale is facing Bremond at the right time seeing as Bremond is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
