Softball Recap: Ayala Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Ayala waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Claremont Wolfpack an 11-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-6 back in April.

Lilianna Acosta was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Acosta was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ayala let Jayden Tamura and Madison Caganap run wild. Tamura went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, while Caganap went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Serenity DeAvila, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Ayala hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive games.

Ayala's record now sits at 16-4. As for Claremont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Ayala will be playing at home against Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Claremont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
