Cherokee had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down the Unicoi County Blue Devils 87-68 on Thursday. This was payback for the Chiefs, who suffered a 39-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Cherokee to victory were Kenady Deal and Rylee Sivert. Deal shot 73% from beyond the arc en route to 42 points and five steals, while Sivert went 13-for-21 on her way to 31 points and five rebounds. Addie Lawson was another key player, putting up six points and six assists.

Cherokee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-67 victory against Fulton on the 22nd. As for Unicoi County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-40 loss against Grainger on the 21st.
