Softball Recap: Riley County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Riley County, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in April. They won by a run and slipped past the Sabetha Bluejays 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since March 21, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Kendall Holt, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gracie Scofield, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Riley County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Riley County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Sabetha, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bluejays beat Riley County by a score of 10-6 later that day.
