For the first time this season, Lompoc will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Wednesday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Mission College Prep Royals at 4:30 p.m. Mission College Prep took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lompoc, who comes in off a win.
Lompoc barely beat Paso Robles the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lompoc put the hurt on Paso Robles with a sharp 11-5 victory last Friday. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on Blake Bailey, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Deion Baca, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Lompoc always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Mission College Prep came up short against Righetti on Saturday and fell 6-2. The loss continues a trend for the Royals in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.
Mission College Prep also got a good showing from Armen Clayton, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, Clayton gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Mission College Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Bernal, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Lompoc pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mission College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Lompoc couldn't quite finish off Mission College Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Lompoc avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
