In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Rodgers, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Carey Maletis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Menlo-Atherton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Half Moon Bay suffered their closest defeat since April 30, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Sequoia by a score of 7-5. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Ravens: they've now lost four in a row.
Mia Modena made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Bailey Gunning, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Menlo-Atherton pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Half Moon Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Half Moon Bay's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Menlo-Atherton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Half Moon Bay, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Menlo-Atherton's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
