Butler had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 78-73 victory over the Carver Tigers on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their 13th in a row.

Butler got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcus Scurry Jr. out in front who shot 82% from the field on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Scurry Jr. a new career-high in shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Kwamane Bridges, who went 8-for-14 en route to 25 points and eight boards.

Butler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Carver still got an impressive performance from Tony Montgomery, who shot 48% from the field to rack up 31 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The contest was Montgomery's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Tim Woodson Jr. also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Butler's victory bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Carver, with the defeat, they broke their 19-game winning streak and moved their record to 27-3.

Coming up, Butler will take on Union County at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 22 games -- so hopefully Butler likes a good challenge. Carver does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
