League recap: Pusch Ridge Christian Academy extends winning streak with victory over San Carlos

Adding to the longest winning streak in V Section VI this week, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy beat San Carlos 56-13. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Lions.

San Manuel was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. The Miners defeated Santa Cruz Valley 49-8 earlier in the week.

San Tan Foothills's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Malik Wolf threw for 141 and 2 touchdowns and Dominick Kelly had 73 yards receiving. On the ground Saige Waxter chipped in 120 yards. Garrett Baer helped San Tan Foothills' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 33 yards.

Wolf put up the best numbers through the air as the Sabercats defeated Baboquivari. Wolf's favorite target this week was Kelly, who caught 4 passes for 73 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Jacob Frithsen and Taylor Fitzgerald, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Frithsen leads the league in passing with 764 yards, while Fitzgerald has rushed for 1,086 yards this season. San Tan Foothills' Kelly leads the league in receiving yards with 356 on 23 catches.

Rodger Schenks' team's Waxter is a mere 83 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Waxter has rushed for 917 yards on 108 carries so far this year.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Troy Cropp's team takes on Canyon State Academy. As it stands, the Lions are in first, while the Rams are in third.

The Sabercats took down the Warriors 52-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wolf in the win.
