Basketball Recap: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Gilmer County Titans
After flying high against the Wood County Christian Wildcat last Tuesday, the Doddridge County Bulldogs came back down to earth. Doddridge County suffered a tough 52-27 loss at the hands of the Titans on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Doddridge County has scored all season.
Doddridge County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Akaia Williams, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Aleigh Cheeseman, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Doddridge County's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Gilmer County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doddridge County will take on the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clay County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Gilmer County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. South Harrison is on a six-game streak of home wins, the Titans a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
