Baseball Recap: Mooresville Wins Going Away Against Cox Mill

Mooresville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cox Mill, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Mooresville blew past Cox Mill 10-4 on Tuesday. Considering the Blue Devils have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Talon Russ looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Luke Modrak was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Mooresville is 6-2 when Modrak posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Cole Harvey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

Mooresville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Mooresville and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Cox Mill, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.
